I can't help but think of former Congressman George Santos, expelled by members of the House of Representatives for fraud AND not think of Congresswoman Sheila McCormick's out of court settlement last month with the state of Florida. McCormick will repay a 5-million-dollar taxpayer funded Covid, Paycheck Protection stimulus, that was meant to be sent as $50,000. The "PPP" she cashed was for her health care company but was subversively passed through, almost intact, to her own campaign in 2022. McCormick won her primary by 5 votes and spent massive amounts of money promising voters "$1000 for you"...per month...if she was elected.

The McCormick/Santos situations are similar. "The D.C.-based Campaign Legal Center questioned how Santos was able to make a sizeable donation ($705,000) to his own campaign in the months before he won a competitive House race on Long Island."  CBS News, Jan 2023

In 2016 I was the late Congressman Alcee Hasting's Republican opponent. The only surprise in my race were 54,646 low information Republican voters not realizing I was to the left of the liberal Congressman on some issues.

A Democrat will hold the seat in 2026. This letter to the editor is a declaration that I'm a Republican candidate for Congress in this lopsided 4 to 1 Democrat to Republican 20th district. A "letter of intent" with Tallahassee has been filed.

The unedited Aug 11 from top of page, as sent to Sun-Sentinel the previous week:

Nine yrs ago I was the late Congressman Alcee Hasting's Republican opponent, seated at a Sun-Sentinel editorial review, and we were each asked, what is the #1 issue perplexing/facing the country. I responded, "gerrymandering".  If you're the type reading the "letters" section of this newspaper you surely know front page news of Texas State Republican Reps trying to redraw districts i.e, gerrymandering, midway, in what should be a 10 yr cycle, for the purpose of holding the U.S. House majority in 2026. Blue California and blue NY are threatening to retaliate.

I'm back as Republican candidate for Alcee's old seat in the heavily gerrymandered Democrat, 20th district.

Congresswoman Sheila McCormick will be a lock next yr given incumbency plus the grossly artificial Democrat majority in this district.  Tough next year too, any Republican opponent making a campaign issue of the 5 million dollars McCormick owes Florida for an errant small business PPP "loan" during Covid, then inappropriately used to heavily outspend opponents in her Democrat primary. She won the primary by 5 votes. McCormick has 10 yrs to pay back our state treasury the money. It is a gerrymandered and incumbency farce in the 20th district, as usual.
